AION 2 opens Advance Access for Founder’s Pack buyers on 30 September 2026, followed by its free-to-play release on 5 October. If you are thinking about upgrading your PC for launch, the official requirements give a useful warning against overspending: you do not need a current flagship GPU simply to play the game.
As checked on 29 September 2026, the official Steam page lists a GeForce GTX 1050 Ti with 4GB as the minimum GPU and a GeForce RTX 2070 with 8GB as the recommended GPU. That is a much lower hardware bar than the newest RTX 50-series cards, although the graphics settings and target experience matter.
Official minimum and recommended PC requirements
Steam lists Windows 10 or 11 64-bit, a Ryzen 5 2600 or Core i5-10500, 8GB of RAM and a GTX 1050 Ti 4GB for the minimum tier. The recommended tier moves to a Ryzen 7 3700X or Core i7-11700, 16GB of RAM and an RTX 2070 8GB.
Both tiers require 100GB of available storage and DirectX 12, and Steam recommends an SSD. The additional notes are important: the minimum configuration is associated with FHD on the Very Low preset, while the recommended configuration is associated with FHD on Low. These are compatibility guidelines, not a promise of a particular frame rate.

DLSS 4.5 does not mean you need RTX 50
NVIDIA confirms that the global version of AION 2 supports DLSS 4.5 Super Resolution and Multi Frame Generation. The current Game Ready driver released on 22 September includes support for AION 2 ahead of the global launch window.
That feature support should not be turned into a blanket RTX 50 recommendation. NVIDIA says DLSS 4.5 is available on GeForce RTX GPUs, while the game’s own recommended specification is still an RTX 2070. Newer hardware may make sense for higher resolutions, higher settings or stronger frame-rate targets, but neither NC nor NVIDIA has published a complete independent per-GPU benchmark table for the global build.
What should you upgrade first?
If your PC already meets or exceeds the recommended tier, wait for real global-build benchmarks before replacing major components. Launch-week testing will tell you far more about crowded areas, large battles and higher graphics presets than a model name on a shopping page.
If you are below the minimum, compare the whole machine rather than buying a GPU in isolation. A system with only 8GB of memory, an older processor and a hard drive can have several bottlenecks. For many older PCs, moving to 16GB RAM and making sure the game is installed on an SSD may be a more sensible first step before paying for a high-end graphics card.
CatchThePrice verdict
Do not buy an RTX 50-series card just because AION 2 launches with DLSS 4.5. The official recommended GPU is an RTX 2070 8GB, so players with reasonably modern gaming PCs should test the game first. Upgrade only when your actual resolution, settings and frame-rate target show that your current hardware is the limiting factor.
